The People With Power in Disney’s Streaming Division

In January, as the streaming world focused on a slowdown at Netflix and the pending takeover of HBO Max’s parent by Discovery, Disney was busy reshuffling the team driving its all-important expansion in streaming. In the reorganization, the company put all of its services—including Hulu and its international Star service, as well as the Disney+ flagship and ESPN+—under the oversight of onetime Amazon digital video executive Michael Paull.

That puts a lot of responsibility in the hands of Paull, who joined Disney five years ago to oversee its streaming technology unit, once known as BAMTech Media. And one result of the shakeup is that streaming, widely regarded as the future of the entertainment giant, now has very few women in senior roles. Disney moved Paull’s former boss, Rebecca Campbell, who had succeeded Kevin Mayer overseeing streaming after Mayer left Disney in 2020, to a different role within the company. Meanwhile, Kelly Campbell, who previously oversaw Hulu and was on the same level as Paull, left Disney to join NBCUniversal.

The lack of gender diversity is one takeaway from the updated org chart of Disney’s streaming division we’re publishing today, listing more than 160 names.
