In recent years, creators have made inroads into traditional entertainment through brand partnerships and other collaborations. One sign of that relationship: creators at mainstream media’s marquee events. For the last three years, YouTuber Emma Chamberlain has been a red carpet correspondent for Vogue at the Met Gala. Last year, Amelia Dimoldenberg, who interviews celebrities while eating fried chicken on her internet show Chicken Shop Date, took her act to the Golden Globes.
Sunday, another web series will take to the red carpet at the Golden Globes: Recess Therapy, a show where host Julian Shapiro-Barnum interviews children in New York. (You may know Recess Therapy from Shapiro-Barnum’s video with Corn Kid, also known as Tariq.) The move comes as Recess Therapy has grown its audience and invited celebrities on the show to talk with kids. Now, Shapiro-Barnum and two regulars from Recess Therapy, Amina and Avery, will interview celebrities at the awards show.
