LinkedIn has been expanding creator offerings as the Microsoft-owned professional social network tries to carve out territory in the ongoing battle for influencers and their fans. On Wednesday, it announced its latest effort: its own collection of podcasts, which will include those produced by creators such as communications executive Morra Aarons-Mele and entrepreneur Rufus Griscom, plus original shows made by LinkedIn staff.
The pilot network will focus on workplace topics from hiring to health and will tie into other features that Linkedin provides, like its Substack-like newsletter publishing service and a video feature to host live events with fans. LinkedIn’s podcasts will be available on other apps, including Spotify and Apple. The social network is also competing with these platforms, which have courted podcasters popular on topics such as business and careers, such as leadership guru Brené Brown and corporate diversity advocate Mita Mallick.
